Form Follows Function, Function Follows Form

What is Form Follows Function?

According to Wikipedia, form follows function is "a principle associated with modern architecture and industrial design in 20th century". The principle is basically, buildings or objects should be based on its function or purpose.

The funny thing about Form Follows Function is that it is often quoted incorrectly. Even the quote itself is inaccurate. The original quote was "form ever follows function".

So, Form Follows Function means designing something based on what it is used for - it's purpose. On the other hand, Function Follows Form is the opposite. Designing something without being based on what the purpose is.
